Write about your frustrations

Not knowing what to write about is a common problem among writers.

Especially nowadays, the internet is full of content, and trying to write something original is a very difficult task. The huge amount of content that is being created at all times is also putting a lot of pressure on us to do more and be more active in regards to what we create.

It’s not surprising then that sometimes we’re having a really hard time coming up with articles to write and we spend days struggling and getting frustrated with every idea that might come to us.

When you find yourself in this situation it’s often quite hard to find a way out. No matter how much content you go through that is supposed to teach you how to come up with more good ideas, you simply cannot come up with something satisfactory.

It’s at this point that writing about your frustrations can be quite helpful.

We all have things that frustrate us a lot. We might have neighbors that listen to a lot of music, often quite loudly. We might have friends who can’t get their act together and constantly need our help or advice. We might have responsibilities that are simply the result of poor decisions taken by a company or our own bosses.

We’re all frustrated about something and it’s often very hard to talk about all that’s in our head with someone. No one likes a person who complains too much and we obviously can’t go and complain to those who frustrate us, because we might want to avoid conflict or simply because we don’t want to hurt those people because we like them despite their little flaws.

This can however be a very good source of inspiration for our articles. Looking at what frustrates us, understanding why we’re bothered and thinking of a solution is a good way of trying to come up with a new topic to write about. If you cannot find a solution then just talking about it is good enough.

Is your neighbor listening to music too loudly? You can write about why it’s important to be aware of how your actions can bother other people and how those actions can reflect poorly on you.

Your friends can’t get their act together and constantly need help? Write about how important it is to learn to solve your problems in a well structured way so that you can gain independence and not be at the “mercy” of other people who might not want to help.

You have responsibilities that are the fault of an institution bigger than you? Write about how to efficiently deal with those responsibilities and how to take care of them as quickly as possible in order to avoid them piling up and becoming a bigger problem later.

We can always write about what we learn and the lessons we see others share online. But it’s often the small problems that we deal with every single day that can provide us with the inspiration we need to come up with a good article. And it’s often those small problems that are the most relatable and an absolute pleasure to read about. It makes people go “Right? I’m having the same issue” and they might feel a bit better knowing that it’s not them who are wrong and that their frustration is might be well justified.
